Lightweight, rigid and flat as a mirror, without warping in the sun. The material behind most of the signs and boards that leave our workshop.
Dibond is a composite panel made of two thin aluminium sheets with a polyethylene core in between. It's one of the materials we use most at Original Graphics, because it combines the best of both worlds: the rigidity and flatness of a metal with a fraction of the weight of solid aluminium. The result is a sign that cuts precisely, doesn't bow in the heat, and keeps a clean finish for years.
Complete fabrication of the sign or panel, from design to installation.
We start by defining the size, thickness and finish based on where the sign will go and what durability it needs. Once the design is approved, we cut the Dibond to exact size, apply the print or vinyl and finish the edges. Finally we install it at the agreed location, using the fixing system best suited to the surface.
We mainly work with 3mm Dibond for standard signs and boards, and 4mm for larger pieces or ones that need extra rigidity. The finish can be matte, gloss, wood-effect or mirror, and the print can be protected with anti-UV laminate to extend the colour's life outdoors.
For businesses that need a durable, clean-finish identification sign or panel — façades, receptions, office nameplates, indoor and outdoor wayfinding — and for any project where the weight or warping of other materials would be a problem.
Our workshop is in Caldes de Malavella, right by the AP-7 motorway, which lets us give a fast turnaround across the whole province of Girona — Girona city, Figueres, Blanes, Lloret de Mar, Salt, Palafrugell, Olot and the Costa Brava — and the rest of Catalonia, from La Jonquera down to Barcelona.
What is Dibond and why is it used so much in signage?
Dibond is a composite panel made of two thin aluminium sheets with a polyethylene core in between. It's widely used in signage because it's lightweight yet rigid and flat, doesn't warp in the sun the way other materials can, and can be cut and printed with a lot of precision.
How long does a Dibond sign last outdoors?
Properly installed and with a protected finish (laminate or UV inks), an outdoor Dibond sign holds its rigidity and flatness for several years, though the exact lifespan of the colour depends on sun exposure and the type of finish.
Can you print directly onto Dibond, or does it need vinyl?
Both are possible: direct digital printing straight onto the aluminium sheet, or printed and laminated vinyl applied on top. We choose the option based on the finish, budget and durability the project needs.
What Dibond thicknesses do you use, and which do you recommend?
We mainly work with 3mm for standard signs and boards, and 4mm when the piece is large or needs extra rigidity. We recommend the right thickness based on size and installation point.
